Job Description

As a Store Manager with Branch Oversight at Co-op in Cove Bay, you will be the dynamic leader responsible for the comprehensive operational and commercial success of our local branch. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing store team, fostering a positive and inclusive working environment.
  • Oversee all daily store operations, ensuring compliance with Co-op policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Drive sales and profitability through effective merchandising, stock management, and customer service initiatives.
  • Manage store budgets, control costs, and accurately report on financial performance.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently met and exceeded, handling customer feedback professionally.
  • Implement and maintain robust health, safety, and security protocols for colleagues and customers.
  • Manage inventory levels, order placement, and waste reduction strategies to optimise stock availability and freshness.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development to team members.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Co-op within the local community, engaging with customers and local partners.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including scheduling, payroll inputs, and accurate record-keeping.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in retail management, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and developing a team.
  • Solid understanding of retail operations, including merchandising, inventory control, and financial management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Retail Management or a related field.

  • Knowledge of local market trends and customer demographics in the Cove Bay area.
  • First Aid and Health & Safety certifications.
