Job Description

Are you passionate about food quality, cleanliness, and supporting a bustling team? Starbucks in Cambridge, England, is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our vibrant team! In this crucial role, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring our food items are prepared to Starbucks’ high standards, maintaining impeccable hygiene, and keeping our kitchen operations running smoothly. While this isn’t a customer-facing barista role, your contribution directly impacts the quality of the customer experience by providing our baristas with the best possible ingredients and a clean, efficient workspace.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll be an integral part of our store, working behind the scenes to uphold the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and food preparation areas. You’ll be responsible for a variety of tasks, from basic food preparation and unwrapping deliveries to washing dishes, managing inventory, and ensuring all health and safety guidelines are meticulously followed. You’ll work closely with our baristas and shift supervisors, contributing to a positive and productive team environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of food items according to Starbucks' recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure all food preparation areas, utensils, and equipment are clean and sanitised regularly.
  • Receive, unpack, and store food deliveries efficiently, ensuring proper rotation (FIFO).
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management for kitchen supplies and ingredients.
  • Operate dishwashing equipment and maintain an organised and clean dishwashing area.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
  • Support the barista team by ensuring essential ingredients and prepared items are readily available.
  • Dispose of waste and recycling responsibly and efficiently.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the shift supervisor immediately.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative team environment.
