Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team in Peterborough. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Manage client ledgers, including sales, purchase, and nominal ledgers, performing regular reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of corporate and personal tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
- Process payroll for clients, including managing HMRC submissions and related queries.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and manage cash flow statements.
- Support senior accountants and partners with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting tasks.
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting software, industry best practices, and regulatory changes.
- Identify and recommend improvements to client accounting processes and internal controls.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal accounting procedures and best practices.
Required Skills
- AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent (e.g., part-qualified ACCA/ACA)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting practice or a similar financial role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Line 50).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working towards ACCA or ACA qualification.
- Experience with tax compliance software.
- Previous experience working with a diverse client portfolio.
- Familiarity with IRIS software suite.
