Job Description
As our Sound Technician specializing in Event/Audio, you will be the creative and technical maestro behind the sonic landscape of our diverse events. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire audio production lifecycle, starting from initial consultation and technical planning, through meticulous equipment setup and calibration, masterful live sound mixing, and culminating in efficient post-event breakdown and equipment maintenance. This demanding yet highly rewarding role requires a naturally keen ear for detail, an expansive and robust understanding of audio principles, acoustics, and the latest sound technology. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute audio setups for various events, including concerts, conferences, weddings, and corporate functions.
- Operate and mix live sound during events, ensuring optimal audio quality, clarity, and balance for speakers, musicians, and performers.
- Set up, test, troubleshoot, and dismantle audio equipment such as PA systems, microphones (wired and wireless), mixing consoles (digital and analog), monitors, and recording devices.
- Conduct thorough sound checks and line checks with performers and presenters to ensure all audio sources are functioning correctly and optimized.
- Diagnose and resolve technical audio issues promptly and efficiently during live events.
- Maintain, repair, and inventory all audio equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and readiness for upcoming events.
- Collaborate effectively with event managers, lighting technicians, video producers, and other crew members to integrate audio seamlessly into the overall event production.
- Interact professionally with clients, artists, and guests to understand their audio requirements and provide technical support.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices for equipment handling, setup, and operation.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Sound Technician in live event settings.
- Proficiency in operating digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Midas).
- Expert knowledge of PA systems, microphones, signal flow, and audio routing.
- Strong understanding of acoustics and sound reinforcement principles.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot audio issues quickly under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and clients.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work long hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Detail-oriented with a keen ear for sound quality and balance.
- Familiarity with various audio software for playback and minor editing (e.g., Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Audacity).
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in audio engineering, sound production, or a related field.
- Experience with specific audio networking protocols (e.g., Dante, AVB).
