Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Sound Engineer to join our vibrant team at Hit Fm Calabar. This crucial role encompasses both studio-based audio production and on-location event support, making it ideal for a versatile professional who thrives in dynamic environments. As a Sound Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest quality audio for our broadcast productions, advertisements, jingles, and digital content. Your expertise will also be vital in setting up, operating, and dismantling sound equipment for various live events, outside broadcasts, and studio recordings, ensuring flawless audio delivery. You will work closely with producers, presenters, and event organizers, contributing significantly to the overall listener experience and the success of our corporate and community engagements. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain sound consoles, mixers, microphones, and other audio equipment for live broadcasts, studio recordings, and external events.
- Conduct pre-production sound checks, identify and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure seamless operations.
- Mix, master, and edit audio content for radio programs, commercials, jingles, podcasts, and digital platforms.
- Set up, troubleshoot, and dismantle public address (PA) systems for outdoor broadcasts, concerts, workshops, and other promotional events.
- Collaborate with producers, presenters, and content creators to achieve desired audio aesthetics and production goals.
- Maintain an organized inventory of audio equipment and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Provide technical support during live shows, ensuring clear and balanced sound output.
- Stay updated with new audio technologies, software, and industry best practices to continuously enhance production quality.
- Contribute to sound design and effects for various projects as required.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or similar.
- Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, microphone techniques, and audio mixing/mastering principles.
- Experience with live sound reinforcement and PA system setup for events.
- Ability to troubleshoot audio equipment and resolve technical problems efficiently.
- Excellent ear for detail and a strong sense of rhythm and timing.
- Familiarity with broadcast audio standards and regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments, including evenings and weekends for events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Audio Engineering, Broadcast Technology, Music Production, or a related field.
- Certifications in audio software or equipment operation.
- Prior experience working in a radio station, television studio, or live event production company.
- Knowledge of video production and editing fundamentals (basic level).
- Portfolio demonstrating sound engineering and audio production work.
