Key Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and implement original sound effects, ambient atmospheres, and unique sonic textures to enhance storytelling across various media projects.
  • Compose and produce bespoke musical cues, themes, and scores that complement visual narratives and evoke specific emotional responses.
  • Edit, mix, and master audio tracks to achieve optimal quality, clarity, and impact, ensuring seamless integration with dialogue and visuals.
  • Collaborate closely with directors, producers, editors, and other team members to understand project vision and translate creative briefs into compelling audio solutions.
  • Manage and maintain a comprehensive sound library, ensuring accessibility and organisation of all audio assets.
  • Conduct field recordings and Foley sessions as required to capture authentic and specific sound elements for projects.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, tools, and technologies in sound design and music production to continually elevate our studio's creative and technical capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Sound Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing creative music production and sound design work for film, TV, or similar media.
  • Expert proficiency in industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Cubase, or Ableton Live.
  • Demonstrable ability to compose and arrange original music, understanding of music theory, harmony, and orchestration.
  • Strong knowledge of sound recording techniques, microphone selection, and audio post-production workflows.
  • Proficiency in sound effects creation, synthesis, manipulation, and Foley recording.
  • Excellent understanding of audio mixing, mastering, equalisation, compression, and other signal processing techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a keen ear for sonic aesthetics, dynamics, and spatialisation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a creative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Production, Sound Design, Audio Engineering, Film Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience with middleware tools like Wwise or FMOD, especially if any gaming experience is relevant.
  • Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer) for seamless audio-visual synchronisation.
  • Experience working on high-budget or award-winning productions.
  • A passion for storytelling and a deep understanding of how sound and music contribute to narrative and emotional depth.
