Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our innovative development team in Kingston upon Hull. As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer at KCOM, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our cutting-edge software products and services. You will be instrumental in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and test planning to execution and defect management. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of software testing methodologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and project managers. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases for both manual and automated testing. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain detailed test plans and test cases for new and existing software features.
  • Perform various types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Identify, document, and track software defects and anomalies using appropriate bug tracking systems.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution of identified defects.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Participate in requirements review meetings to ensure testability of features and adherence to specifications.
  • Provide clear and concise status reports on testing progress, risks, and outstanding issues.
  • Advocate for quality best practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Continuously improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Proficiency in developing and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
  • Knowledge of SQL and database testing.
  • Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI).
  • ISTQB certification (Foundation Level or higher).
  • Experience working in the telecommunications or IT services industry.
