Job Description

The Register Citizen is seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Executive to elevate our online presence and deepen our engagement with the Torrington community. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies aligned with The Register Citizen’s editorial and business objectives.
  • Create, curate, and manage engaging content (text, image, video) for daily posts across multiple social media channels, ensuring brand consistency and tone of voice.
  • Monitor social media channels for trending topics, community feedback, and competitor activities, responding to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Analyze social media performance data using analytics tools, preparing regular reports on key metrics (reach, engagement, traffic, conversions) and recommending data-driven optimizations.
  • Collaborate closely with editorial, marketing, and sales teams to promote key stories, special features, events, and advertising campaigns.
  • Stay informed of the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices, proactively identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Manage social media advertising campaigns, including budget allocation, audience targeting, and performance tracking, to maximize ROI.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of proven experience managing social media for a brand or organization, preferably in media or publishing.
  • Demonstrable expertise with major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) and their respective best practices.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Google Analytics).
