Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt. This is a critical on-site role that demands strong leadership, technical proficiency, and an unyielding commitment to excellence in project execution. As a Site Supervisor, you will be the linchpin of our construction operations, directly overseeing daily activities, managing site personnel, and ensuring that all work is carried out efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for translating project plans and designs into tangible progress, working closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain seamless coordination and communication across all phases of construction.
The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and safety regulations, particularly within the Nigerian context. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all daily on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of construction crews, subcontractors, and other site personnel.
- Implement and enforce strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures on site, conducting regular safety briefings and inspections.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and proactively implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure that all work meets the required standards and specifications.
- Manage site resources, including equipment, materials, and labor, to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, progress reports, material usage, and incident reports.
- Liaise effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and regulatory authorities to ensure clear communication and smooth project flow.
- Resolve day-to-day operational issues and challenges that arise on site, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior staff and laborers, fostering a skilled and productive workforce.
- Ensure all site activities comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and company policies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in site supervision or construction management roles, preferably within Nigeria.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate diverse teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and relevant building codes.
- Excellent understanding and practical application of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing site challenges.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification from the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB).
- Experience with large-scale commercial or residential building projects.
- Additional certifications in project management or occupational safety.
- Knowledge of local government regulations and permits in Port Harcourt/Rivers State.
