SPAR Nigeria is seeking a skilled and dedicated Shoe Cobbler to join our service team as a market artisan in our Rukpokwu, Obio-Akpor location. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced cobbler to bring their expertise to a dynamic retail environment, offering essential repair services to our wide customer base. As our resident Shoe Cobbler, you will be responsible for a comprehensive range of footwear repair and restoration tasks, including but not limited to, resoling, reheeling, stitching, patching, dying, and general shoe maintenance. You will work with various materials such as leather, suede, rubber, and synthetic fabrics, ensuring that every pair of shoes receives meticulous attention to detail and a high standard of craftsmanship. Beyond the technical skills, this role demands excellent customer service. You will be the face of our footwear repair service, consulting with customers, assessing their repair needs, providing accurate estimates, and offering expert advice on shoe care. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace is paramount, as is managing your inventory of tools and repair materials efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of shoe and leather item repairs, including resoling, reheeling, stitching, patching, polishing, and dyeing.
- Inspect footwear thoroughly to diagnose issues and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
- Provide accurate cost estimates and timelines for repairs to customers.
- Engage with customers professionally, offering expert advice on footwear care and maintenance.
- Manage and maintain an inventory of repair materials, tools, and supplies, ensuring stock levels are adequate.
- Operate and maintain specialized cobbling machinery and tools safely and effectively.
- Ensure all repairs meet high standards of quality, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and strive for satisfactory resolutions.
- Stay updated on new repair techniques, materials, and footwear trends.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience as a Shoe Cobbler or Footwear Repair Technician.
- Proficient in all aspects of footwear repair, including leatherwork, stitching, and sole/heel replacement.
- Strong understanding of various shoe materials (leather, suede, rubber, synthetic) and their specific repair techniques.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate and maintain cobbling machinery and hand tools.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Problem-solving abilities for complex repair challenges.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
