Job Description
Are you an experienced and dynamic Project Manager looking for a challenging opportunity to lead high-impact projects within the energy sector? This role is critical to the successful delivery of complex projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. As a Shell Project Manager, you will be at the forefront of driving key initiatives, from inception through to execution and handover. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, managing diverse stakeholders including engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of complex projects, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, control, and closure, ensuring adherence to Shell’s Project Management Framework (PMF).
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, detailed work breakdown structures, resource allocation, realistic timelines, and robust budget forecasts.
- Oversee project financials, including budget preparation, cost control, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting, ensuring projects remain within approved financial parameters.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities proactively, developing mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts and maximize value.
- Manage and engage effectively with all project stakeholders, including internal departments, contractors, vendors, government agencies, and community representatives, fostering strong relationships and clear communication channels.
- Ensure strict compliance with all Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety excellence throughout project execution.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate multidisciplinary project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Ensure project documentation, reporting, and communication are accurate, timely, and effectively distributed to relevant parties.
- Monitor project progress against established milestones, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Manage change control processes, ensuring all scope changes are properly documented, approved, and integrated into the project plan.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in managing complex projects, preferably within the oil and gas, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding and practical application of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and risk analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Commitment to HSSE excellence and sustainable project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification.
- Experience working in a multinational corporation, particularly in Nigeria or similar emerging markets.
- Familiarity with Shell’s Project Management Framework or similar industry standards.
