Job Description

This is an urgent hiring for a dedicated and experienced Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Hartford, Connecticut. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods, equipment, and materials for Shell's energy products.
  • Manage inbound and outbound freight activities, including scheduling, preparation of shipping documentation, and real-time tracking of shipments.
  • Optimize logistics processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost reductions, and enhanced service levels.
  • Collaborate effectively with suppliers, carriers, warehouse personnel, and various internal departments (e.g., procurement, production, sales, safety) to ensure seamless operational flow.
  • Oversee inventory management and warehousing activities, ensuring accurate stock levels, proper storage conditions, and adherence to security protocols.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant transportation regulations (domestic and international), customs requirements, and Shell's internal policies, particularly safety standards.
  • Proactively identify and resolve logistical issues, delays, and emergencies promptly and effectively, minimizing disruption to critical operations.
  • Prepare and analyze comprehensive logistics reports, including performance metrics, transportation costs, service levels, and inventory turns.
  • Utilize advanced logistics software and systems (e.g., TMS, WMS, ERP) to manage and track shipments, orders, and inventory data.
  • Negotiate competitive rates and contracts with carriers and third-party logistics (3PL) service providers as needed to secure optimal service and pricing.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Logistics Coordinator or in a similar supply chain role, preferably within the energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sector.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain management principles and logistics operations, including transportation modes, warehousing, and inventory control.
  • Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., Transportation Management Systems – TMS, Warehouse Management Systems – WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration and negotiation with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to anticipating and mitigating challenges.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant transportation regulations, hazardous materials handling, and customs procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume operational setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CTL, CPIM).
  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Familiarity with international shipping regulations and Incoterms.
  • Prior experience working in a global or multinational company environment with complex logistics networks.
