Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineer HR Assistant to join our human resources team in Calabar. This full-time position is crucial for providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to the HR department, with a specific focus on supporting our engineering workforce. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of HR processes, from recruitment and onboarding of engineers to managing employee data and assisting with various HR initiatives tailored to technical roles. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad HR experience within a dynamic energy company, understanding the unique human capital needs of an engineering-centric environment. You will be instrumental in maintaining organized HR records, coordinating training programs, assisting with performance management cycles, and acting as a first point of contact for HR-related queries from our engineering staff. Your meticulous attention to detail and proactive approach will be essential in upholding HR best practices and contributing to a positive employee experience for our engineers. This position requires someone who is not only proficient in general HR duties but also possesses an aptitude for understanding technical terminologies and the specific requirements of an engineering department in the oil and gas sector. You will be working closely with HR Business Partners and line managers within the engineering division to streamline operations and enhance employee satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support for the full recruitment lifecycle for engineering roles, including job posting, candidate screening, scheduling interviews, and preparing offer letters.
- Assist with the onboarding process for new engineering hires, ensuring a seamless integration into the company and adherence to all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases, specifically for the engineering department, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Prepare HR-related documents, reports, and presentations as required, including performance review summaries and training completion records.
- Coordinate and schedule various HR meetings, training sessions, and employee engagement activities relevant to the engineering team.
- Act as a primary point of contact for routine HR inquiries from engineering staff, escalating complex issues to the appropriate HR personnel.
- Support the HR team in implementing company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with labor laws and internal regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll inputs for engineering staff and address related queries.
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving employee experience and operational efficiency within the engineering division.
- Perform general office duties such as filing, photocopying, and managing correspondence related to HR functions.
Required Skills
- Proven administrative or HR support experience, preferably in a technical or industrial environment.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Basic understanding of Nigerian labor laws and HR best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in Human Resources (e.g., CIPM, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
- Familiarity with HR Information Systems (HRIS) such as SAP SuccessFactors or similar.
- Previous experience working within the oil & gas or energy sector.
