Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our esteemed finance team at Dashen Bank. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and IFRS.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports for the National Bank of Ethiopia and other relevant bodies.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Utilize accounting software and systems to process financial transactions and generate reports.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Engage actively in all provided training programs to enhance knowledge of banking-specific accounting practices and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an accounting role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle ERP, SAP, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent
  • Experience within the banking or financial services industry
  • Familiarity with Ethiopian tax laws and regulations
