Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our esteemed finance team at Dashen Bank. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and IFRS.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports for the National Bank of Ethiopia and other relevant bodies.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Utilize accounting software and systems to process financial transactions and generate reports.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Engage actively in all provided training programs to enhance knowledge of banking-specific accounting practices and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in an accounting role
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle ERP, SAP, or similar)
- Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent
- Experience within the banking or financial services industry
- Familiarity with Ethiopian tax laws and regulations
