You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing client relationships, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review statutory accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients, including limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage client relationships, acting as a primary point of contact for accounting queries and offering proactive financial and business advice.
  • Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, reviewing their work, providing constructive feedback, and contributing to their professional development.
  • Ensure strict compliance with UK GAAP, FRS 102, FRS 105, and other relevant accounting standards, tax legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT returns, corporation tax computations, and other relevant tax filings.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and reporting to provide actionable insights to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with external audit preparation, liaise effectively with auditors, and respond to queries efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement efficiencies, and contribute to the development of best practices within the finance team.
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations, tax laws, and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance and best advice.

Required Skills

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification (or equivalent professional accounting qualification)
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in an accounting practice or a significant finance role within industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102, and FRS 105.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities, with a proven capacity to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements, prioritise tasks, and meet strict deadlines effectively.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and mentoring capabilities.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CCH Central or similar practice management software.
  • Knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Previous experience in a client-facing role within professional services, demonstrating strong advisory skills.
  • A proactive attitude towards continuous professional development and a desire to specialise in specific areas of accounting or tax.
