Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Security Officer to join our esteemed team at The Langham Chicago. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our guests, colleagues, and property, contributing significantly to the luxurious and secure environment our hotel is known for. As a Security Officer, you will be the vigilant eyes and ears of our establishment, preventing incidents, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a visible, reassuring presence. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of all hotel areas, including guest floors, public spaces, back-of-house, and perimeter, to deter criminal activity and identify safety hazards.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly and effectively to security alerts and potential threats.
- Respond immediately to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, and security breaches, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of all individuals.
- Provide professional and courteous assistance to guests and colleagues, addressing inquiries and resolving conflicts with tact and discretion.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports on all incidents, observations, and investigations, maintaining meticulous records.
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Assist with the safe handling and transport of valuables, including cash and sensitive documents.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed during critical situations.
Required Skills
- Excellent observational and analytical skills to identify potential security risks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear reporting and interaction.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, especially during emergencies.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for report writing and surveillance monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness to conduct patrols, stand for extended periods, and respond quickly to incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1-2 years) in a security role, preferably within a hospitality or luxury environment.
- Possession of a valid PERC card (Permanent Employee Registration Card) in Illinois.
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly regarded.
- A strong understanding of emergency response protocols and risk management strategies.
