Job Description
We are seeking a vigilant and highly responsible Security Officer to join our team at Presken Hotel in Ayobo, Lagos. As a Security Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of our guests, staff, and property. Your primary role will involve monitoring premises, preventing unauthorized access, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a secure and orderly environment. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent observational skills, a strong sense of integrity, and the ability to act calmly and decisively under pressure. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety and security, contributing significantly to the overall positive experience of our patrons. You will work closely with other hotel departments to implement and enforce security protocols, conduct regular patrols, and address any security concerns promptly and professionally. This is a critical role that demands attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in security practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the hotel premises, including guest rooms floors, public areas, back-of-house, and exterior grounds.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to detect and prevent suspicious activities or security breaches.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and disturbances.
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and staff.
- Inspect and maintain security equipment, ensuring all systems are in good working order.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, observations, and daily activities.
- Assist guests and staff with security-related inquiries and provide directions or information as needed.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement when necessary to address criminal activities.
- Control access points, verify credentials, and manage visitor logs.
- Provide basic first aid and emergency response as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills for report writing and monitoring systems.
- Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities in critical situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a relevant security training course or certification.
- Previous experience in hotel security or a customer-facing security role.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license.
