Job Description
Allied Universal is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Guard for an overnight shift to join our professional team in Chicago, IL. As an Overnight Security Guard, you will be the frontline protector of our client’s property, assets, and personnel during critical hours. This role demands a high level of responsibility, acute observation skills, and the ability to act decisively and calmly in various situations. You will be responsible for maintaining a secure and safe environment, conducting regular patrols, monitoring surveillance equipment, and responding to incidents as they arise. The overnight shift requires individuals who are self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently while adhering strictly to established security protocols and procedures. Your presence will deter unauthorized activities, and your proactive approach will ensure potential risks are identified and mitigated. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas on foot and/or via vehicle, ensuring all access points are secure and property is protected.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and other security systems, reporting any suspicious activities or incidents immediately.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including alarms, disturbances, medical incidents, or security breaches.
- Enforce company rules, regulations, and post orders consistently and professionally.
- Control access to the premises, verifying credentials for visitors, contractors, and employees.
- Conduct detailed incident reporting, documenting observations, activities, and occurrences accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting clients, employees, and visitors with inquiries and directions while maintaining security protocols.
- Communicate effectively with law enforcement, emergency services, and management as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid state-issued Security Guard license (PERC card in Illinois, or ability to obtain one)
- Excellent observational and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and perform duties requiring physical exertion
- Proficiency in using security equipment and systems (e.g., surveillance monitors, two-way radios)
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Clean criminal background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, military, or law enforcement
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Experience with advanced security technologies
- Associate's degree or higher in criminal justice or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflicts effectively
