Covestro LLC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scientific Technician to join our dynamic team at our state-of-the-art facility in New Martinsville, West Virginia. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests and analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using established procedures and instrumentation.
- Operate and maintain complex analytical instruments, including but not limited to spectroscopy, chromatography, and physical testing equipment.
- Accurately record, compile, and interpret experimental data, maintaining detailed laboratory notebooks and electronic records.
- Prepare chemical reagents, solutions, and samples according to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine equipment issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff or maintenance as needed.
- Collaborate with chemists, engineers, and production personnel to support research projects, process improvements, and quality initiatives.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO) standards.
- Assist in the development and validation of new test methods and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace.
Required Skills
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific field.
- 2-3 years of experience in a laboratory or industrial setting, preferably in chemical manufacturing or materials science.
- Proficiency in operating standard laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and best practices.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and report data accurately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP or other LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
