Job Description

Covestro LLC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scientific Technician to join our dynamic team at our state-of-the-art facility in New Martinsville, West Virginia. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests and analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using established procedures and instrumentation.
  • Operate and maintain complex analytical instruments, including but not limited to spectroscopy, chromatography, and physical testing equipment.
  • Accurately record, compile, and interpret experimental data, maintaining detailed laboratory notebooks and electronic records.
  • Prepare chemical reagents, solutions, and samples according to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine equipment issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff or maintenance as needed.
  • Collaborate with chemists, engineers, and production personnel to support research projects, process improvements, and quality initiatives.

  • Assist in the development and validation of new test methods and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace.

Required Skills

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a laboratory or industrial setting, preferably in chemical manufacturing or materials science.
  • Proficiency in operating standard laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and best practices.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and report data accurately.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
