Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled, meticulously organized, and experienced School Bursar to join our dedicated administrative team at Salvation International School. The Bursar plays a pivotal role in the financial management and administrative operations of the school, ensuring absolute fiscal responsibility, stringent accountability, and the seamless running of all financial processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the school's financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Administer the school's fee collection system, including invoicing, reconciliation, and managing outstanding accounts.
  • Process payroll for all staff, ensuring accurate and timely payments, tax deductions, and statutory remittances.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers in compliance with accounting standards and school policies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, and analyses for the school management and Board.
  • Manage the school's bank accounts, cash flow, and investments, ensuring optimal liquidity and financial stability.
  • Oversee procurement processes, including vendor selection, purchase order generation, and invoice verification.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and systems to safeguard school assets.
  • Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and ensure compliance with audit recommendations.
  • Provide financial advice and support to the school management on strategic planning and operational decisions.
  • Manage school assets register and ensure proper inventory control.
  • Handle all aspects of administrative support relating to finances, including communication with parents regarding fees.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
