Key Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and other forms of payment with precision and integrity.
- Perform daily cash reconciliation at the end of each shift, ensuring all transactions balance.
- Execute daily closing procedures, including reporting and preparing funds for banking.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring it is presentable at all times.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, locating items, and resolving minor issues with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
- Scan products, apply discounts or promotions, and collect payments in accordance with company policies.
- Verify age for restricted products and adhere strictly to all sales regulations.
- Contribute to maintaining overall store cleanliness and merchandising standards when not actively serving customers.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding security, cash handling, and customer service.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cash handling and operating POS systems (minimum 6 months).
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
- Basic computer proficiency for POS operation.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a supermarket or large retail chain.
- Familiarity with inventory management basics.
- Ability to speak local languages in addition to English.
