Key Responsibilities
- Operate company delivery vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and strict company policies.
- Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance issues or damage promptly to ensure vehicle safety and operational readiness.
- Accurately pick up, meticulously load, and deliver grocery orders to customer homes within designated time slots, ensuring product integrity.
- Verify order accuracy with customers upon delivery, meticulously checking all items against the order list and addressing any discrepancies professionally.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve minor delivery-related issues professionally, courteously, and efficiently, escalating complex matters when necessary.
- Process payments or returns as required, accurately handling cash, credit/debit card transactions, or app-based payment systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic delivery vehicle at all times, reflecting Sainsbury's brand standards.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and hygiene standards during transport and delivery to ensure the quality and safety of products.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS and mapping tools, optimizing for time and fuel consumption while meeting delivery schedules.
- Provide exceptional customer service, representing Sainsbury's brand values of quality, trust, and helpfulness in every interaction.
- Lift, carry, and maneuver heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) safely and comfortably as needed, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
Required Skills
- Valid state driver's license with a consistently clean driving record for at least the past 3 years.
- Minimum of 6 months of professional driving experience (e.g., delivery, courier, taxi, ride-share, or similar).
- Excellent knowledge of local Pelican, Cape Coral area routes, traffic patterns, and navigation strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging positively with a diverse customer base.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and manage time effectively to meet tight delivery schedules.
- Meticulous attention to detail for order accuracy and adherence to delivery instructions.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move packages up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Customer-centric attitude with a friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor at all times.
- Exceptional reliability and punctuality, understanding the importance of timely deliveries.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
