Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain multi-axis CNC machines (lathes, mills) to perform various machining operations.
- Interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications (GD&T) to determine machining operations, tools, and sequences.
- Load and unload parts, select and install appropriate tools, and adjust machine settings to ensure optimal production and quality.
- Monitor machine operations, detecting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusting controls as necessary.
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, CMMs) to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, perform basic machine maintenance, and clean equipment to ensure longevity and accuracy.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, quality control, and other production staff to optimize processes and achieve production goals.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, quality standards, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate production records, including daily logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with expertise in operating multi-axis CNC milling and turning centers.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code/M-code programming.
- Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, depth gauges, CMM).
- Ability to perform complex machine setups, tool offsets, and program adjustments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for machining processes and machine issues.
- Adherence to strict quality control standards and safety procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and machine interface.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal technical training or apprenticeship in machining or a related field.
- Experience with specific control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas).
- Knowledge of CAM software for program simulation and optimization.
- Familiarity with aerospace materials and their machining characteristics.
- Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Certification in CNC Machining or related discipline.
