Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain multi-axis CNC machines (lathes, mills) to perform various machining operations.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications (GD&T) to determine machining operations, tools, and sequences.
  • Load and unload parts, select and install appropriate tools, and adjust machine settings to ensure optimal production and quality.
  • Monitor machine operations, detecting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusting controls as necessary.
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, CMMs) to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, perform basic machine maintenance, and clean equipment to ensure longevity and accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, quality control, and other production staff to optimize processes and achieve production goals.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including daily logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with expertise in operating multi-axis CNC milling and turning centers.
  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code/M-code programming.
  • Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, depth gauges, CMM).
  • Ability to perform complex machine setups, tool offsets, and program adjustments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for machining processes and machine issues.
  • Adherence to strict quality control standards and safety procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and machine interface.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal technical training or apprenticeship in machining or a related field.
  • Experience with specific control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas).
  • Knowledge of CAM software for program simulation and optimization.
  • Familiarity with aerospace materials and their machining characteristics.
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Certification in CNC Machining or related discipline.
