Job Description
Rio Tinto is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Process Technician to join our operations team in Windward, Alpharetta, Georgia. This is an immediate start opportunity for a dedicated individual eager to contribute to a world-leading mining and metals company. As a Process Technician, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and optimal operation of our industrial processes. You will be responsible for monitoring complex systems, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing solutions that enhance productivity and product quality. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor process control systems (e.g., SCADA, DCS) to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
 - Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on process equipment and instrumentation.
 - Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process deviations, equipment malfunctions, and operational inefficiencies.
 - Ensure strict compliance with all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.
 - Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data to identify trends, predict issues, and recommend process improvements.
 - Collaborate effectively with engineering, maintenance, and quality control teams to optimize processes and resolve technical challenges.
 - Maintain accurate and detailed records of process parameters, equipment performance, and corrective actions.
 - Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives, hazard identification, and risk assessment programs.
 - Assist in the training and development of new team members, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and safety.
 - Respond promptly to alarms and emergencies, executing appropriate protocols to maintain operational integrity and safety.
 
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Process Technician or similar role in an industrial setting.
 - Strong understanding of industrial processes, control loops, and instrumentation.
 - Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
 - Familiarity with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) or DCS (Distributed Control Systems).
 - Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
 - Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
 - Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
 - Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
 - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
 - Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry and reporting.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Process Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
 - Relevant industry certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, specific equipment certifications).
 - Experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or mining environment.
 - Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
 - Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
 - Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
