Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mining Engineer to join our dynamic team. While this role is based in Shirley Hills, Warner Robins, GA, it will primarily support strategic planning, operational oversight, and project development functions across our North American assets, requiring occasional travel to various mine sites. The successful candidate will play a critical role in optimizing mining processes, ensuring stringent safety compliance, and contributing significantly to the strategic development and long-term sustainability of our operations. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and optimize short-term and long-term mine plans, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, production targets, and resource utilization.
 - Conduct detailed analysis of operational data, identifying bottlenecks, improving efficiency, and implementing cost-reduction strategies.
 - Design and implement new mining methods, equipment modifications, and critical infrastructure projects, from conceptualization to execution.
 - Perform comprehensive ore reserve and resource estimation, pit limit optimization, and detailed mine scheduling using advanced software.
 - Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies, promoting a culture of zero harm.
 - Collaborate effectively with geological, metallurgical, and processing teams to optimize ore recovery, material flow, and overall plant performance.
 - Manage project timelines, budgets, and allocate resources efficiently for various engineering initiatives.
 - Prepare comprehensive technical reports, detailed presentations, and meticulous documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
 - Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and operational staff, fostering their professional growth.
 - Utilize advanced mining software for design, planning, and simulation purposes (e.g., MineSight, Vulcan, Surpac, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS).
 
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
 - Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in mining operations, mine planning, or project engineering.
 - Demonstrated proficiency in industry-standard mining software such as MineSight, Vulcan, Surpac, or similar applications.
 - Strong understanding of opencast and/or underground mining methods, equipment, and best practices.
 - Proven ability to develop, implement, and optimize complex mine plans and schedules.
 - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical decision-making skills.
 - Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and across cross-functional teams.
 - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
 - Unwavering commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable mining practices.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.
 - Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Chartered Engineer status in a relevant jurisdiction.
 - Extensive experience with advanced mine design, simulation, and optimization techniques.
 - Familiarity with financial modeling, economic analysis, and project valuation within mining projects.
 - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management experience.
