Job Description

Nestlé Nigeria PLC is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Retail Merchandiser to join our dynamic team in Federal Secretariat, Abuja. In this pivotal role, you will be the face of our brands in various retail environments, playing a crucial part in ensuring our products are not just available, but prominently displayed, perfectly stocked, and strategically promoted to capture consumer attention.
As a Retail Merchandiser, you will be responsible for executing merchandising strategies that enhance product visibility, drive sales, and maintain Nestlé’s premium brand image across a designated territory. You will manage inventory, set up attractive product displays, implement promotional campaigns, and ensure compliance with planograms. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with store managers and personnel. Key Responsibilities
- Execute merchandising strategies, ensuring optimal product placement, visibility, and accessibility in assigned retail outlets.
- Set up, maintain, and refresh appealing product displays, promotional materials, and point-of-sale items in accordance with company guidelines and planograms.
- Monitor stock levels, identify potential stock-outs, and communicate inventory needs to relevant stakeholders to ensure continuous product availability.
- Conduct regular market visits to assess competitor activities, analyze market trends, and report findings to the sales and marketing teams.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with store managers, retail staff, and key decision-makers to secure prime display locations and foster cooperation.
- Implement and evaluate promotional campaigns, ensuring correct pricing, signage, and product positioning.
- Ensure products are correctly priced and labeled, adhering to company and regulatory standards.
- Provide regular feedback and reports on merchandising activities, sales performance, and market insights.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and product presentation on shelves.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to execute merchandising strategies effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently across multiple locations.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Physical stamina to handle and move products, and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license (preferred, but not strictly mandatory if public transport/company transport is viable for the territory).
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of OND/HND/B.Sc. in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience (1+ years) in retail merchandising, field sales, or a similar role within the FMCG sector.
- Familiarity with the Abuja retail landscape and consumer purchasing habits.
- Ability to interpret sales data and merchandising reports to optimize store performance.
