As a Retail Floor Assistant, you will be a vital part of our store operations, ensuring our sales floor is always welcoming, well-organized, and stocked with an ever-changing array of unique merchandise. You’ll be the friendly face of Goodwill, assisting shoppers, answering questions, and helping them find hidden treasures. This role offers hands-on experience in merchandising, inventory management, and direct customer engagement, all while supporting Goodwill’s overarching mission of transforming lives through the power of work. Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm and a helpful attitude, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, including tidying racks, shelves, and display areas.
- Process incoming merchandise, including sorting, tagging, and stocking items according to store guidelines.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems accurately to process customer purchases, returns, and exchanges.
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and manage registers with integrity and precision.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the store, including cleaning, securing merchandise, and preparing for the next business day.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily operational goals and maintain a cohesive work environment.
- Educate customers about Goodwill's mission and how their purchases support community programs.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and customer service standards.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful workplace culture that values diversity and teamwork.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a retail environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and counting inventory.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform duties such as bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail, customer service, or hospitality role.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus, but not required.
