Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth workflow and efficiency from opening to closing.
  • Lead, train, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of restaurant staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment that encourages growth and high performance.
  • Develop and implement staffing schedules, managing labor costs effectively while ensuring adequate coverage for peak and off-peak hours.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and service standards to ensure they consistently meet or exceed guest expectations and hotel benchmarks.
  • Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and promptly, resolving issues to ensure guest satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control for food, beverages, and supplies, minimizing waste, optimizing costs, and ensuring availability.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and safe dining environment for both guests and staff.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team and Head Chef to develop menus, special promotions, and culinary events that appeal to our diverse clientele.
  • Manage restaurant budgets, analyze sales figures, and implement strategies to improve profitability and achieve financial targets.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for staff, identify training needs, and implement development programs to enhance skills and career progression.
  • Implement marketing and promotional activities to attract and retain customers, working closely with the hotel's marketing department.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current food and beverage trends, competitor activities, and local market dynamics to ensure our offerings remain competitive and appealing.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or similar leadership role in a hotel or high-volume restaurant setting (minimum 4 years).
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff towards common goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding customer service and resolve guest concerns effectively and empathetically.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, P&L analysis, and sales forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in both French and English (verbal and written) to interact with a diverse team and clientele.
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software, Point of Sale (POS) systems, and basic office applications.
  • Sound knowledge of food and beverage operations, including inventory management, quality control, and service protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to operational challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of local food safety regulations and hygiene standards specific to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Experience with event planning and catering services within a hotel environment.
  • Familiarity with local suppliers and market trends in Likasi and Haut-Katanga Province.
  • Additional language proficiency (e.g., Swahili) to better connect with local staff and guests.
