As a Line Cook Assistant, you will play a crucial supporting role in our bustling kitchen operations, working closely with our experienced line cooks and talented chefs. Your day will involve a diverse range of tasks, from precise knife work during initial food preparation (mise en place), to assisting with cooking on various stations, and ensuring a meticulously clean and organized workstation at all times. Key Responsibilities
- Assist line cooks with mise en place, including chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, and preparing sauces according to recipes.
- Support the efficient flow of service by ensuring all necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment are prepped and readily available.
- Cook and prepare dishes accurately and consistently according to Beach House Restaurant's recipes and quality standards, under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation, including all kitchen tools, equipment, and storage areas, throughout the shift.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and hygiene regulations and procedures (HACCP) to ensure a safe dining experience.
- Assist with inventory management, notifying chefs of low stock or expiring products to facilitate timely reordering.
- Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with all kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and coordinated service.
- Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries, ensuring correct rotation of stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
- Perform general kitchen clean-up duties, including dishwashing, sweeping, and mopping, as required to maintain a spotless environment.
- Embrace feedback from chefs and proactively seek opportunities to learn new techniques, recipes, and best practices in culinary arts.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (even informal) in a restaurant, commercial kitchen, or food service environment.
- Enrollment in or completion of a culinary training program or apprenticeship.
- Valid Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon hire).
- Familiarity with various cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and knife skills.
- Knowledge or appreciation of Pacific Northwest cuisine and local ingredients.
