Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Officer with a strong focus on documentation and data analysis to join our growing team in Ikot Ansa, Calabar. This crucial role will be instrumental in supporting RUDI’s various development projects by ensuring accurate data collection, robust analysis, and comprehensive documentation of project activities, outcomes, and impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing data collection tools, managing databases, performing statistical analysis, and synthesizing findings into clear, actionable reports and presentations. You will work closely with program managers, field staff, and M&E specialists to monitor project progress, identify trends, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making. This position requires a blend of strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail in documentation, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop data collection tools and methodologies (surveys, questionnaires, focus group discussions, interview guides) for various projects.
  • Manage and maintain project databases, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Conduct thorough quantitative and qualitative data analysis using appropriate statistical software and analytical techniques.
  • Prepare comprehensive research reports, briefs, and presentations summarizing key findings, trends, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of project proposals, concept notes, and logical frameworks by providing data-driven insights and background research.
  • Perform literature reviews and synthesis of existing research to inform program design and strategy.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities, including baseline, midline, and endline surveys, and contribute to impact assessments.
  • Ensure all project documentation, reports, and data are meticulously organized, archived, and easily accessible.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through various platforms, including workshops, seminars, and online publications.
  • Provide capacity building and technical support to field staff on data collection and basic data management techniques.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Python, Stata, or advanced Excel for statistical analysis).
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex data clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in documentation and data management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography, Public Health, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or in the development sector.
  • Familiarity with GIS mapping tools for data visualization and spatial analysis.
  • Knowledge of local languages prevalent in Cross River State (e.g., Efik, Ejagham, Bekwarra).
  • Experience in grants management and proposal writing.
