Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for therapeutic effects and potential side effects.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patient's condition to the appropriate medical staff.
- Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare team members to provide holistic care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Respond to emergencies and provide immediate medical care as needed, performing life-saving measures.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with best practices and licensure requirements.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants as appropriate.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (or eligibility for licensure in Alabama)
- BLS certification (ACLS/PALS may be required for specific units)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- 1+ year of experience in an acute care setting (e.g., Med-Surg, ICU, ER)
- Relevant specialty certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
- Experience with diverse patient populations
