Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
- Provide comprehensive patient education to patients and their families regarding health conditions, medications, and self-care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in electronic health systems.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards, including regulatory compliance.
- Participate in unit-based and organizational quality improvement initiatives.
- Respond to emergencies and provide critical care interventions as needed.
- Delegate and supervise care activities performed by nursing assistants or other support staff.
- Advocate for patients' rights and ensure a safe, compassionate care environment.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or ability to obtain prior to start date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
- Compassion and empathy for patients and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (if applicable to unit).
- One (1) year of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Specialty certification relevant to the area of practice (e.g., CCRN, CEN, Med-Surg).
- Experience working in a diverse patient population.
