Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs, record observations, and report changes in patient condition to the medical team.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop and review patient care strategies.
- Adhere to Johns Hopkins Medicine policies, procedures, and ethical standards of practice.
- Provide compassionate and empathetic care, ensuring patient comfort and dignity.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights are respected and their needs are met.
- Utilize advanced medical equipment and technology effectively and safely.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or eligibility for licensure (NCLEX-RN required)
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
- Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA recognized)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Specialty certification relevant to the clinical area (e.g., CCRN, OCN)
- Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic)
- Previous experience in an academic medical center
