Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
- Document patient care activities accurately and meticulously in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, therapists, and other specialists, to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and post-discharge care.
- Respond to emergency situations with promptness and clinical expertise, maintaining a calm and effective demeanor.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere strictly to all infection control protocols and safety measures.
- Mentor and support new nursing staff and students, contributing to a positive and collaborative learning environment.
- Advocate for patient rights, maintain confidentiality, and ensure a safe and respectful care environment at all times.
Required Skills
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
- Bachelor of Nursing (BN) or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, relevant experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care or equivalent setting.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and patient interaction.
- Ability to work effectively and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer applications.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Proof of legal eligibility to work in Canada, or eligibility for sponsorship and immigration support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, GNC) in relevant areas.
- Experience with diverse patient populations and demonstrated cultural sensitivities.
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly French, an asset.
- Previous experience working within a Canadian healthcare system.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and a proactive approach to continuous professional development and learning.
