Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and meticulously in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, therapists, and other specialists, to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and post-discharge care.
  • Respond to emergency situations with promptness and clinical expertise, maintaining a calm and effective demeanor.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere strictly to all infection control protocols and safety measures.
  • Mentor and support new nursing staff and students, contributing to a positive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Advocate for patient rights, maintain confidentiality, and ensure a safe and respectful care environment at all times.

Required Skills

  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
  • Bachelor of Nursing (BN) or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent, relevant experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care or equivalent setting.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and patient interaction.
  • Ability to work effectively and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer applications.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Proof of legal eligibility to work in Canada, or eligibility for sponsorship and immigration support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, GNC) in relevant areas.
  • Experience with diverse patient populations and demonstrated cultural sensitivities.
  • Proficiency in a second language, particularly French, an asset.
  • Previous experience working within a Canadian healthcare system.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a proactive approach to continuous professional development and learning.
