Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established specifications and standards.
  • Perform sensory evaluations (taste, smell, appearance) of products to ensure compliance with quality benchmarks.
  • Monitor and verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Operational Prerequisite Programmes (OPRPs) to maintain food safety.
  • Document all quality control data accurately and promptly, maintaining comprehensive records for audit purposes.
  • Identify and report non-conformances, escalating issues to senior QC staff and production management for resolution.
  • Assist in the investigation of quality issues, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene standards throughout the production facility.
  • Calibrate and maintain QC testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Support internal and external audits as required, providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Provide training and guidance to production operatives on quality procedures and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in a quality control or assurance role within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of food safety principles (e.g., HACCP, GMP, BRC Global Standards).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficient in accurate record-keeping and data entry.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with various teams.
  • Basic IT literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food Safety Level 2 or 3 qualification.
  • HACCP Level 2 qualification.
  • Experience with laboratory testing procedures specific to food analysis.
  • Knowledge of allergen management and control in food production.
  • A relevant qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related scientific discipline.
