Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established quality standards and procedures.
- Perform sensory evaluations, physical, and chemical analyses to ensure product specifications are consistently met.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure adherence to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plans and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
- Document all quality checks, test results, and non-conformances accurately and meticulously.
- Identify, investigate, and report any deviations from quality standards, assisting in root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Collaborate with production personnel to address quality concerns and provide guidance on best practices.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality systems and processes.
- Participate in training new team members on quality control procedures and standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role within a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety principles, HACCP, and GMPs.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Proficiency in performing sensory, physical, and chemical tests.
- Ability to accurately record data and maintain detailed documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, FSSC 22000).
- Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Certification in HACCP and/or Food Safety.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
