Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure placement.
- Operate and drive various ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, belt loaders, and pushback tractors safely and efficiently.
- Marshal aircraft on arrival and departure, guiding pilots to and from parking positions.
- Position passenger stairs and jet bridges for boarding and deplaning.
- Conduct pre-departure checks and communicate with flight crews and other ground staff.
- Maintain a clean and organised ramp area, adhering to all safety and security regulations.
- Participate in de-icing procedures during adverse weather conditions when required.
- Handle special cargo, including dangerous goods, with appropriate training and care.
- Adhere strictly to all Qantas operational procedures, safety guidelines, and company policies.
Required Skills
- Current and valid Australian Driver's License (manual highly desirable)
- Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 32kg) and perform strenuous tasks
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to operational procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability and punctuality
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work
- Experience operating heavy machinery or ground support equipment (GSE)
- Knowledge of airport operations and aviation industry procedures
- First Aid certificate
