Job Description

As a Qantas Crew Scheduler, you will play a pivotal and critical role at the heart of our airline operations, ensuring that our aircraft are staffed with highly qualified and well-rested crew members. Your primary mission will be to meticulously meet our stringent safety standards, maintain operational integrity, and adhere to our dynamic flight schedules. This is a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where your keen eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure will be absolutely paramount. You will be directly responsible for the meticulous creation, continuous monitoring, and agile adjustment of crew rosters. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain optimal crew rosters, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Monitor real-time operational changes, including delays, cancellations, and diversions, and proactively adjust crew schedules to mitigate disruptions.
  • Manage crew sickness, fatigue, and other unplanned absences, ensuring timely replacement and adherence to flight duty limitations.
  • Communicate effectively with flight crews, pilots, cabin crew, and other operational departments regarding schedule changes and assignments.
  • Utilize advanced scheduling software and tools to optimize crew utilization and minimize operational costs without compromising safety.
  • Participate in post-operational analysis to identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains in crew scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate records of crew movements, training, and qualifications.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an operational scheduling role, preferably within the aviation industry.
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulatory requirements (e.g., flight duty limitations, rest periods).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick, informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in using complex scheduling software and airline operational systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with all levels of staff.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, including shift work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with Qantas-specific operational systems or similar airline platforms.
  • Knowledge of Australian aviation regulations (e.g., CASA) or willingness to quickly learn.
  • Previous experience as a crew member (pilot or cabin crew) providing firsthand operational insight.
