Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to join our Qantas technical operations team. Based in Rome, you will play a critical role in ensuring the airworthiness and reliability of our modern fleet, upholding Qantas’s world-class safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs on Qantas aircraft in accordance with regulatory requirements (EASA) and company procedures.
- Perform comprehensive troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and rectification of complex mechanical, electrical, avionics, and structural systems.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly, ensuring compliance with airworthiness regulations and internal quality standards.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and best practices, maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with ground operations, flight crew, and other technical teams to ensure efficient turnaround times and minimal operational disruptions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, providing feedback on maintenance processes and contributing to the enhancement of operational efficiency.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks, ensuring all systems are fully operational and airworthy before aircraft dispatch.
Required Skills
- EASA Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance License (B1 or B2, or both, with relevant type ratings).
- Minimum of 5 years (60 months) post-certification experience in aircraft maintenance.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and rectifying complex aircraft system faults.
- Strong understanding of aviation regulations, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) for technical documentation and team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Type ratings on Boeing 787, Airbus A330, or Airbus A380 aircraft.
- Experience working in a line maintenance environment with an international airline.
- Proficiency in Italian language is highly regarded.
- Advanced diagnostic and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with digital maintenance management systems.
