Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of procurement spend, market dynamics, and supplier pricing to identify significant opportunities for cost savings and value creation.
- Develop, implement, and refine pricing models, analytical frameworks, and specialized tools to support strategic sourcing initiatives and complex contract negotiations.
- Meticulously evaluate supplier proposals, bids, and contracts, performing rigorous financial analysis to ensure competitive pricing and strict adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate closely with procurement managers and category leads to develop sophisticated negotiation strategies based on thorough cost breakdowns and in-depth market intelligence.
- Monitor, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to pricing accuracy, savings realization, and overall supplier performance.
- Prepare detailed reports and impactful presentations for senior stakeholders, clearly outlining findings, strategic recommendations, and the precise financial impact of procurement decisions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, emerging trends in procurement, pricing strategies, and advanced supply chain management methodologies.
- Actively support the development and execution of annual procurement plans and strategic budgeting processes.
- Ensure complete compliance with TransAlta's stringent procurement policies, ethical guidelines, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in procurement, pricing analysis, financial analysis, or supply chain analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, cost analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Proven ability to analyze complex data sets, identify critical trends, and derive actionable strategic insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly, concisely, and persuasively.
- Demonstrated negotiation support skills and a solid understanding of contract terms and conditions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a remote, distributed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., SCMP, CFA, PMP).
