Job Description
Are you a highly organised and proactive individual with a passion for optimising logistics operations? Wincanton is seeking a dedicated Port Operator – Dock & Warehouse Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Patchway, Bristol. This pivotal role is at the heart of our major distribution facility, serving as a critical link in the efficient movement and management of goods. While based inland at our state-of-the-art logistics hub, this role involves the meticulous coordination of diverse freight types, often including those destined for or arriving from various national and international ports, ensuring seamless transitions within our extensive supply chain network. The term ‘Port Operator’ in this context signifies a role demanding a high level of operational precision and coordination typically found in port environments, applied to a large-scale distribution and cross-docking facility.
As a Port Operator – Dock & Warehouse Coordinator, you will be instrumental in overseeing the smooth operation of our busy loading docks and comprehensive warehouse facilities. Your core responsibilities will include orchestrating the timely receipt, dispatch, and storage of goods, ensuring that all operations adhere strictly to stringent safety protocols, quality standards, and operational targets. Your day-to-day will be dynamic, involving close coordination with a wide array of stakeholders, from external hauliers and drivers to internal warehouse staff, inventory control, and planning teams. You will manage critical shipping and receiving documentation, conduct meticulous checks on incoming and outgoing freight, and expertly utilise our advanced warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory, optimise storage space, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
This role is not just about moving boxes; it’s about strategically managing the flow of products that are vital to our clients’ businesses and, by extension, the daily lives of consumers. It requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities to navigate unexpected challenges, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining a high-performance, safety-first environment. You will be a frontline ambassador for Wincanton’s values, upholding our reputation for reliability, efficiency, and safety. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your organisational skills and logistical acumen can make a tangible difference, and you’re ready to contribute to a company that’s truly at the cutting edge of logistics, we encourage you to apply. Join us and become a key player in shaping the future of supply chain excellence, ensuring the vital flow of goods that underpin daily life and commerce across the UK.
