Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plumber – Pipework & Maintenance Specialist to join our dedicated Engineering team at Moon Palace Jamaica. In this pivotal role, you will be primarily responsible for the comprehensive installation, meticulous maintenance, and expert repair of all plumbing systems throughout our extensive resort property. This critical scope includes, but is not limited to, ensuring the optimal functionality of water supply lines, efficient drainage systems, hygienic sewage networks, all types of fixtures, essential fittings, and various water-related equipment crucial to a luxury resort operation. Your profound expertise will be instrumental in guaranteeing the seamless and uninterrupted operation of our resort’s intricate water infrastructure, thereby directly contributing to paramount guest comfort, safety, and the overall operational efficiency that defines our brand. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundational and practical understanding of local and international plumbing codes and regulations, demonstrate excellent diagnostic and proactive problem-solving abilities, and exhibit an unwavering commitment to delivering superior-quality workmanship in the demanding and fast-paced hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and meticulously maintain all types of pipes, plumbing fixtures, and associated equipment for water distribution, waste disposal, and other essential plumbing systems across the entire resort.
- Execute routine preventative maintenance inspections and tasks on all plumbing systems, including diligently checking for leaks, identifying potential blockages, and mitigating any potential hazards.
- Skillfully troubleshoot and accurately diagnose complex plumbing issues in an efficient manner, precisely identifying the root cause of problems such as persistent leaks, severe clogs, burst pipes, or faulty water heaters.
- Perform immediate and effective emergency repairs promptly to minimize any disruption to critical guest services and overall resort operations, especially during peak times.
- Install and competently maintain hot water systems, water heaters, boilers, and all associated control mechanisms.
- Ensure that all plumbing work performed strictly adheres to local plumbing codes, rigorous safety regulations, and stringent environmental standards.
- Operate a wide range of plumbing tools and specialized equipment safely and proficiently, including pipe cutters, threaders, various wrenches, and advanced drain cleaning equipment.
- Accurately read and interpret blueprints, technical schematics, and detailed plumbing diagrams to effectively plan and precisely execute plumbing projects.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities undertaken, including detailed logs of parts utilized and total time expended.
- Actively collaborate and coordinate with other maintenance staff and various resort departments to efficiently coordinate complex projects and proactively address any inter-departmental issues.
- Respond to guest-related plumbing issues with utmost professionalism, courtesy, and a sense of urgency, ensuring minimal inconvenience to their stay.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and practical support to junior plumbing staff or apprentices as and when required, fostering skill development.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a professional Plumber, with a strong, demonstrable focus on pipework installation, repair, and general maintenance in a commercial setting.
- Exceptional proficiency in installing, repairing, and meticulously maintaining diverse plumbing systems (including water supply, drainage, and sewage networks).
- Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of plumbing codes, safety standards, and relevant industry regulations.
- Advanced ability to accurately read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and plumbing schematics.
- Superior diagnostic and problem-solving skills, capable of resolving complex and challenging plumbing issues efficiently.
- Unwavering attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality, durable workmanship.
- Robust physical stamina and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, and working comfortably in confined spaces.

- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also seamlessly as an integral part of a larger team in a fast-paced, dynamic hospitality environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized vocational training program or possessing relevant professional certification in Plumbing.
- Prior experience specifically working within a large hotel, resort, or expansive commercial property environment.
- Familiarity with various piping materials and advanced joining techniques (e.g., copper, PVC, PEX, galvanized steel, black iron pipe).
- Working knowledge of water treatment systems, backflow prevention devices, and commercial-grade water heaters.
