Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Plumber (Canalizador) to join our dynamic project teams in Maputo, Mozambique, for an immediate start. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale construction and infrastructure projects, contributing your expertise to critical developments. As a Plumber, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing systems across various sites, ranging from commercial buildings to industrial facilities. Your role is vital in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of water, drainage, and waste disposal systems, adhering strictly to local regulations and international quality standards.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of plumbing codes, excellent diagnostic skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. You will be expected to read blueprints, interpret specifications, and execute tasks with precision and efficiency. This position requires someone who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and other tradespeople. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, fixtures, pipes, and fittings in various construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Inspect and test plumbing systems for leaks and other issues, performing diagnostic checks and troubleshooting to identify problems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems and materials required.
  • Cut, thread, bend, and connect pipes using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Install and repair water heaters, pumps, tanks, and other plumbing appliances.
  • Ensure all plumbing work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople, project managers, and supervisors to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior plumbers or apprentices as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in installing, repairing, and maintaining various plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards specific to Mozambique.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications accurately.
  • Expertise in pipe cutting, threading, bending, and joining techniques (e.g., soldering, welding, brazing).
  • Skilled in using a variety of hand and power tools common to the plumbing trade.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities to identify and rectify plumbing issues.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform strenuous tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid professional plumbing certification or license.
  • Experience with specialized plumbing systems (e.g., industrial piping, wastewater treatment).
  • Proficiency in Portuguese (written and spoken) for effective communication within local teams.
  • Valid Mozambican driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
