Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Pharmacy Assistant to join our friendly team in Cornhill, Aberdeen. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in the accurate and efficient dispensing of prescriptions, adhering strictly to standard operating procedures and legal requirements.
  • Manage and maintain pharmacy stock levels, including ordering, receiving, storing, and rotating medications and pharmaceutical products.
  • Undertake accurate data entry for prescription details into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Label and package dispensed medicines correctly, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Provide excellent customer service, handling patient queries, directing them to the appropriate healthcare professional, and assisting with over-the-counter purchases.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the dispensary and front-of-shop.
  • Process patient payments and manage the till, ensuring accurate financial transactions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of pharmacy services by identifying efficiencies and suggesting enhancements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills in pharmacy practice.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer service role, preferably within a retail or healthcare setting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic IT proficiency, including experience with computer systems and data entry.
  • A responsible and reliable work ethic with a commitment to patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Assistant or Dispenser.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy software systems.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical terminology and common medications.
