Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Pharmacist with a dual focus on retail and clinical responsibilities to join our dedicated team at Pharmacie la Providence in Gemena. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense prescription medications, verify prescriptions, and manage refill requests.
  • Provide comprehensive patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, drug interactions, and adherence.
  • Offer basic clinical advice, health screenings (e.g., blood pressure, blood glucose checks), and referrals to other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
  • Maintain precise patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with professional standards.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications to prevent shortages and minimize waste.
  • Ensure proper storage and security of all pharmaceutical products, including controlled substances.
  • Oversee the work of pharmacy technicians and support staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all national and local laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines governing pharmacy practice in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Identify and resolve drug-related problems, collaborating with prescribers to optimize patient therapy.
  • Participate in community health outreach programs and health education initiatives.
  • Stay current with pharmaceutical advancements, new drugs, and changes in healthcare regulations through continuous professional development.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid Pharmacist license to practice in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Proficiency in French (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical principles, pharmacology, and drug interactions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
