Job Description

Hôpital Général de Référence de Gemena is seeking a skilled and committed Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. This pivotal role combines both retail pharmacy operations and crucial clinical responsibilities, allowing you to leverage your expertise in a multifaceted environment. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and over-the-counter products to patients and hospital wards.
- Provide comprehensive patient counseling on proper medication use, potential side effects, drug interactions, and adherence strategies.
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, receiving, storing, and rotating stock to prevent expiry and ensure availability.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date patient records and medication profiles.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient drug therapy and resolve medication-related issues.
- Conduct medication reconciliation and review drug regimens for appropriateness, efficacy, and safety.
- Ensure strict adherence to national pharmaceutical regulations, hospital policies, and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in formulary management and drug utilization review processes.
- Educate healthcare staff and patients on new drugs, drug-related issues, and best practices.
- Prepare extemporaneous compounds as needed, ensuring quality and sterility.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy department.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.
- Valid Pharmacist license to practice in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
- Proficiency in French (written and spoken) is essential; Lingala or other local languages are a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug interactions, and pharmacology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a clinical pharmacy role or patient education.
- Familiarity with inventory management software or systems.
- Experience working in resource-limited settings or developing countries.
