This position requires a hands-on approach to quality control, from raw material inspection through to finished product release. You will be responsible for conducting various quality checks, performing laboratory analyses, documenting findings, and collaborating with production teams to address and resolve any deviations. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine quality control tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Document all quality checks, test results, and corrective actions thoroughly and accurately.
  • Identify, investigate, and report product deviations or non-conformances, initiating corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP principles, and other food safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to resolve quality-related issues and implement process improvements.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the QA laboratory and production areas.
  • Participate in sensory evaluations and product shelf-life studies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control within a manufacturing environment, preferably in food/beverage.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, and food safety principles.
  • Proficiency in performing standard laboratory tests and using QA instrumentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience with SAP or other LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • Certification in HACCP or PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual).
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Maine's food safety regulations.
