Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties in assigned areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and trash removal.
  • Clean and sanitize washrooms, kitchenettes, and common eating areas, ensuring a high level of hygiene.
  • Empty waste bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor polishers and vacuums safely and effectively.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or incidents to supervisors promptly.
  • Follow established schedules and procedures for routine and deep cleaning tasks.
  • Support special cleaning projects as needed, including post-event or seasonal deep cleans.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in cleaning or custodial services, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment, and safe handling practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), pushing, and pulling.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a food production or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) regulations.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
