Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties in assigned areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and trash removal.
- Clean and sanitize washrooms, kitchenettes, and common eating areas, ensuring a high level of hygiene.
- Empty waste bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when supplies need to be reordered.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor polishers and vacuums safely and effectively.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or incidents to supervisors promptly.
- Follow established schedules and procedures for routine and deep cleaning tasks.
- Support special cleaning projects as needed, including post-event or seasonal deep cleans.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cleaning or custodial services, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment, and safe handling practices.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), pushing, and pulling.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a food production or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) regulations.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
