Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team in Derby, England. This full-time role is crucial in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of our UK payroll for all employees using the ADP platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance. You will be a key point of contact for payroll-related queries, working closely with our HR and Finance departments to ensure a seamless and efficient payroll cycle. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end processing of monthly payroll for UK employees using ADP Workforce Now or similar ADP products, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP), and pension regulations.
- Handle all payroll-related calculations, deductions, and adjustments, including bonuses, commissions, benefits, and expenses.
- Reconcile payroll data, prepare comprehensive payroll reports, and perform month-end and year-end close activities (P60s, P11Ds).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll queries, providing clear, accurate, and empathetic responses.
- Collaborate closely with the HR team on new hires, terminations, transfers, and changes in employee data affecting payroll.
- Work with the Finance department to ensure accurate general ledger postings and reconciliations.
- Administer company pension schemes, including auto-enrolment and contribution management.
- Maintain meticulous and confidential payroll records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with internal and external payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Payroll Specialist in the UK.
- Demonstrable expert proficiency with ADP payroll systems (e.g., ADP iHCM, ADP Workforce Now).
- In-depth knowledge of current UK payroll legislation, tax codes, and National Insurance contributions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualification or working towards one.
- Experience with payroll systems implementation or upgrades.
- Previous experience in a global or multinational company environment.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems integration with payroll.
- A background in the manufacturing or chemical industry.
