Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and dedicated Paramedic seeking a challenging yet rewarding career? Medicall Ambulance Services is expanding its critical emergency response team and is looking for experienced Paramedics to join our Savanna-la-Mar base. As a Paramedic with Medicall, you will be the front-line hero, responding to a diverse range of medical emergencies, accidents, and critical situations. Your primary role will involve providing advanced life support, stabilizing patients, and ensuring safe and efficient transport to medical facilities. This is a demanding role that requires exceptional clinical skills, sound judgment under pressure, and a deep commitment to patient care and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and safely to emergency and non-emergency calls, assessing scenes and ensuring personal and patient safety.
- Provide advanced pre-hospital medical care, including patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, airway management, fluid resuscitation, medication administration, and trauma care.
- Operate and maintain a wide range of medical equipment, ensuring readiness and functionality for all calls.
- Accurately document all patient care activities, observations, and treatments in electronic patient care records.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, bystanders, medical professionals, and dispatchers.
- Safely operate emergency vehicles, navigating diverse terrains and traffic conditions while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stock levels of ambulances and medical equipment.
- Participate in ongoing training, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere strictly to all medical protocols, company policies, and relevant regulatory standards.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of junior medical staff and EMTs as needed.
Required Skills
- Certified Paramedic (EMT-P or equivalent) with current licensure/registration in Jamaica or ability to obtain.
- Valid Class C (or equivalent) driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Paramedic in an emergency setting.
- Proficiency in Advanced Life Support (ALS) procedures and protocols.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment safely.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- CPR, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS/PHTLS certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field.
- Experience working in a rural or community-based ambulance service.
- Additional specialized certifications (e.g., Critical Care Paramedic).
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to the local population.
